Refund Information

Where's My Refund?

Knowing your e-file status gives you peace of mind and the ability to plan.  Barnes Tax Solutions can tell you your ncome tax refund status as it changes.

According to the IRS, most refunds are funding within 21 days of filing.  This clock starts after the IRS begins processing tax returns for the year.  However, for tax returns containing Earned Income Credit and/or the Additional Child Tax Credit, the refunds will be funded a little bit later, or until February 15th.

How quickly you receive your refund depends on when you file, how you file and what credits and deductions you claim.

When to check the status of your refund:

  • Within 24 hours after the IRS has received your e-filed tax return; or

  • 4 weeks after mailing your paper return

When the IRS processes your tax return and approve your refund, you can see your actual personalized refund date.  Even though the IRS issues most refunds in less than 21 days after receipt, it's possible your tax return require additional review and may take a little longer.

You'll be redirected to the IRS Where's My Refund? secure site and asked the following information:

  • Social Security Number

  • Filing Status

  • Exact refund amount shown on your return

Depending on how you chose to receive your tax refund, you may need to allow an additional 2 to 5 business days from the date indicated by the IRS for our bank to process your refund.
